Jim has over 20 years of experience advising and assisting high net worth families with the investment of their assets. Prior to joining Baker Street Advisors, Jim served as Managing Director and Regional Manager of Private Wealth Management at Goldman Sachs in San Francisco. He spent 9 years building and leading this business. Jim served as a senior advisor to Bay Area clients regarding all aspects of their complex financial lives, and supervised their investments and the 40+ advisors reporting to him. He joined Goldman Sachs in Houston in 1987 to work with the wealthiest families in the Southwestern United States and Mexico. Subsequently, Jim became Managing Director and Regional Manager of Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management in Houston before leading the business in San Francisco.
Jim received an M.B.A. from Stanford University and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
Jim is a current member and former Chair of the National Board of Summer Search, a non-profit working to ensure that students have every opportunity to achieve their potential in school, work, and life regardless of their zip code. Jim has previously served on the boards of the San Francisco Ballet, Stanford Business School Alumni Association, and the Bay Area Discovery Museum.
Jim is a lecturer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He co-teaches “Personal Investing and Private Wealth Management” with Professor George Parker.
